Snake Fencing - Prevent Dangerous Human-Wildlife Encounters
One common reason people reach out to Snake Guru is because they recently had a scary encounter with wildlife, most likely a snake, in or around their home. Snake Guru is here to help you understand why wildlife, such as a snake, may be around your property. We can then create a comprehensive plan for how to prevent a dangerous snake from accessing your property. One very popular way this can be achieved is by installing snake fencing. Our goal, once we leave you feel safe, educated and connected to the unique wildlife in our area. This is how Snake Guru is working to promote wildlife stewardship at the grassroots level.
Property Assessments
If you live in Arizona, you have the great fortune of being able to see a snake 365 days a year! The odds do become much lower in the colder months, but a day of warm weather can cause snake activity. One of the services Snake Guru provides is searching your property for areas venomous snakes may find attractive. Once complete, we provide a detailed report on what amendments may need to be made to your property. We leave you with the absolute need to know information on how to make your property less appealing to a venomous snake and safer for your family. If we find any venomous snakes, we’re more than happy to help relocate them away from people/pets into a nearby natural habitat.
Snake Fencing Services
Snake fencing is a form of a wildlife exclusion, or simply put, preventing an animal from accessing a desired space. If you’re considering having any form of wildlife exclusion work performed around your property, we highly recommend choosing a professional that knows how to overcome the unique challenges of working with wild animals.
It’s extremely important to note, snake fencing is designed to target specific species of snakes. It is not designed to stop all snakes from accessing a property/space. For example, some snake species are extremely good climbers in areas with a lot of canopy coverage. Snake fencing would not work well in this area as plants provide small ‘roads’ snakes and other animals can use for travel. Other snake species are extremely small. Some rarely get larger than the size of a large earthworm, even as adults. These smaller snake species are nearly impossible to exclude using 1/4 inch steel mesh. In Arizona, snake fencing is targeting the snake species that pose the largest health risk to people and their pets, rattlesnakes. Specific properties of the fence and installation technique are critical for it to function as intended.
When done incorrectly, a property owner can develop a false sense of security and may lead to a very dangerous situation. If you’re thinking about snake fencing, you have safety at the top of mind. The most effective thing someone can do to prevent an unwanted encounter with a venomous snake is to build a ‘snake-free’ zone. To do this, long-lasting, high quality materials can be installed to protect your home from a venomous snake and add value to the property!
